anyone know anything about these Remotec wheels?

picked these rims up today. they're Remotec and are 7x14.

I've come across information about Remotec 6x15 rims like this that were made briefly in '72, but haven't found any reference to 14 inch ones. anyone have any info about them?

I stuck them on the car to see what they look like. not too bad actually. backspacing is 4-1/2 inches so they work well on a narrow body.

any input much appreciated. Don.

Have not seen these previously. With some lower profile tires (50 or 60 series) and the ride hight set to match they should work well. The gearing will be effectively lowered making the car quicker, but will reduce top end. It will also mean higher RPM at cruse speed and lower MPG, if that is a concern.
Safety note, check the lug nut seat profile to make sure the lug nuts match. If not you could lose lug nuts and then a wheel.
Interesting look.

They look cool...but put some air in the right front tire.

Funny, targas always make wheels look good....

that's only because your eye wants to focus on the wheels to avoid looking at the hideousness of the targa body.

Wow. On a lowered, mildly flared car they'd be very cool. Paint them Campagnolo gold, keep a tall gooey tire on there and they are period awesomeness! - Matt

thanks for the input guys. I have to admit, they're growing on me. I'll get the tires removed on monday and see what they weigh. don't seem too light though.

They look like they may take a minilite type of shanked lug nut. Be sure to check for a good fit before you do any spirited driving. - Matt

actually they do fit right onto the studs. I think the seats are ball type but to be honest I didn't have my glasses so I couldn't tell for sure. the stud holes have steel inserts pressed into the aluminum of the wheel.

I'd also check the lug nuts. Other Remtec wheels use a tapered style of lug nut, not the Porsche's ball style lug nuts.

Don, can you please post some close-ups of the steel inserts. Might be a way for me to get my 5x5" CanAm wheels to 5x130

eye of the beholder. not as nice as fuchs, but I consider what else was available at the time. ie: not much. mostly I just like oddball wheels for their own sake.

and, they don't look hideous IMHO. nearly identical to these ones......

I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble or anything, but down in this part of the world that type of wheel is cast solely for light industrial/trailer use only. Admittedly they are not identical, but look very similar. They are stocked blank and drilled to the pcd you require. Please realise I'm not trying to be a smart ar$e, but I would be concerned about their construction at high speed. Google "performance tx1".
