Targa bars stainless?

Are all years targa bars stainless and just some painted? or are the painted just steel?

I don't believe that. Aluminum would dent too easily.

The story i heard was they made bunch of stainless ones. decided to go with a black targa bar a few years later, not sure what year. So they painted all the stainless ones until they ran out and went to Painted aluminum after that.

Agreed, I think the aluminum would have to be thicker to meet the same durability of the SS, doesn't seem practical.

A magnet will answer the question on your specific bar.

Depends on the grade of stainless, many are non-magnetic.

340 SS is slightly magnetic... which I think Porsche uses.

I have tested SWB, early LWB long hood, mid year, Carrera and 964...all were stainless.

I have never seen nor heard of an aluminum bar.
