Ruf Valance Fog light mounting / HID Install
What's the best way to mount these lights? All I have is the hardware off the factory 82 911 SC valance. In the pictures the lights are just sitting in the cut outs.

Do you have a picture of the backside of the valance? I have Ruf style valance (aftermarket) and mine had thick housing at the fog light holes. I drilled the base of the housing and mounted the fogs. I presume yours are oem rufs

Ruf have a platform behind the hole, the lights mount w/ stock hardware
![]() Ruf clones usually have a platform similar to Ruf but built in as part of the bumper structure instead of a separate piece, again mount w/ stock hardware, I don't use them anymore but you can see where the one was mounted(braketed bu oil lines here ![]()

Aren't RUF spoilers designed to use the Carrera fog lights?
Wouldn't matter to me either way. I'd do a fog light delete and use the holes for brake ducts instead. The factory fog lights are the least useful parts on my car.

As Arne pointed out you have to have 3.2 Carrera lights, they are not the same as SC

Fog light mounting in RUF valance
Got it done. I shoulda realized the original hardware was gonna work. Also installed my DDM Tuning 55w 6000k HID kit. You'll need to have the bumper off to do it and you'll want a uni-bit to enlarge the water drain holes that are in the headlight buckets so you can run wires to and from the headlights. HID install is pretty straight forward once the bumper is removed.

Garrett,
Nice job! Are those the Hella super tones horns on the side by any chance? I bought a set and haven't installed them yet. Just curious if you had to do anything special to mount them. Also are you using a front oil cooler? I've been thinking about going with this type of front valance as a way to crease airflow over the front A/C condenser and possibly using a larger aftermarket one up front.

Those look like super tones.
Garret - Do you have a slight gap between the top part of the valance meeting the bumper blade? I recall I had mine and just bought those rubber seals and fitted it in between so dirt and other particles won't get stuck in those gaps. ![]()

Yea...I can tell its gonna be hard to have a nice fit. I have not actually used the adhesive yet to stick the valance to the bumper...I just taped it in place and drilled the holes on the ends so that the valance would screw into the pieces that come down from the front fenders. Gonna get it painted then put it up there and stick it on....I can already tell its gonna be hard to make look right. Good idea with the seals. I have a feeling I'll be doing the same thing, which kinda sucks that they couldn't make them with a better fit. Of course I coulda put the valance flat against the bumper but then the ends would extend into the wheel wells and that would look absolutely terrible so I opted to line up the ends with the wheel wells and then figure out how to get the valance to fit tightly tightly up against the bumper later.

Probably not a good option if you're going wheel-to-wheel rallying at night, as you might need that to blast the mud off the headlights. ![]() Otherwise, seems to work pretty well.

gotchya...yea thanks for the pictures. I see the difference now. It really helped when I looked at the carrera fog light picture for the part listing on this website. $439 new....I'll take two and a spare in case one doesn't work - HA! . And I held the valance up against my bumper in the position it will be when mounted, with the fogs installed, and it did not interfere with the washer reservoir. Maybe I'm just lucky or this version of the Ruf Valance is slightly different than others.
