I'm looking at an '87 coupe, and the PPI gave compression values of between 173 and 180 for all cylinders. I'm assuming this is in the ballpark. Car has 56K and PPI came back clean.

My 85 returned values of 195psi in all 6 cylinders w/ 39,000 miles at the time. Still, your values sound decent. I don't even think you would need to do a leak down test with those numbers. I could be wrong...

I believe that consistency is more important than high numbers for a compression test. For example, if 5 cyl.s are between 170 and 175, and 1 cyl. is at 140, than I would definitely proceed with the leakdown test. That said, I would feel better about having a spread of 185 to 190 across the board, than 140 on all.
