911 T 1973 E or F series ?
hi everyone, I am a fairly fresh Porsche enthusiast as I have had my 911T 1973 CIS for just a year.
I am puzzled about the model marked on the plate just under the hood. The series is stamped " E " just after the " 911 T ", but i have understood that it should be" F " for a 1973 CIS. The chassis and engine numbers match (9113101696 / 6133312 911 /91) I have no knowledge about the cars history, just that it was shipped from California up here to warm and sunny Finland in 1998 can anyone help ? ![]() |

While the '73 is, indeed the F-series 911, I believe the "E" on your ID plate refers to the Fuel Injection (Einspritzung) fitted to the USA cars. The ROW 911T's were designated 911T-V, V=vergasser (carburetor). The injected 911T's were designated 911T-E.

Here goes that theory ... the 73.5 CIS engines were designated '911T-K' ...

The "E" in the chassis position still refers to the E chassis of 1972. All 1973 T's had the E in the chassis position while the remaining models (including the RS designated as a 911SC) had the F in the chassis position. There is no good reason for the difference since all coupe bodies were pulled from the same chassis pool with the same leading digits in the production #.
