brake upgrade

I have an '88 cab that is about to receive a 3.6 engine upgrade. My current rotors and pads are shot and need replacing. Because I have to buy new rotors and pads anyway, it seems that it might be a good time to upgrade the brakes. I have a fully revised suspension and 17" wheels. Should I upgrade to Big Reds? Is there an intermediate upgrade between standard Cararra brakes and Big Reds?

Thanks,

Lew

Another option is putting the early nineties C2 front calipers on the carrera. It's a four piston caliper that I believe it lighter than the carrera caliper. This option allow you to keep the carrera rotors. I plan to do this to my car after I give up on trying to autox. I think the C2 fronts with slotted rotors is a nice package for carreras.
The C2 front calipers can be had for $200-$300 so it is a lot cheaper than the big reds. If budget is not an issue, the big reds are very nice but may be over kill. my .02.

There is lots of info here at What's available
and full specs of most of the 72 up brake systems here at Specs there is some specific 964 to 911 info here at 964 to 911

Somewhere in there are links to VCI and other supplyers of different kits/parts(Pelican does sell some of the nicest kits available and at reasonable, for kits, priceshere ).

Best advice is realisticly decide what you Need or at least are willing to pay for. Pay attention to what fits your wheels, Pay attention to factory hbrs. There are a few gotchas so when you have gotten that far ask again.

Thanks,

New rotors and pads for an 88 911: About $300.
Brake upgrade, either Brembo's or 930's: About $3000.

I am guilty of the same twisted logic. Careful, it can get pretty pricey !
