Oil leak 79 3.0 / oil plug

I have owned this 79 for a year or so , I have always thought I was fortunate to have a 911 that doesn't wet the floor. Was degreasing engine preparing to do some maintaince and found new oil coming from a small hole- center of engine towards front. Opinion of where this originates and repair of-

If I can be so bold while I have your attention - picture of the engine oil drain plug- metal filings. Odometer has 202,000. Is this normal ?

The leak looks like one of those very thin casting areas that can weep oil thru. There is a service bulletin that gets posted when oil cooler leaks come up. Normally when rebuilding, they'd are cleaned and filled with JB Weld or similar epoxy. You can clean, clean, clean it and do that to try to stop it.

That looks like a lot of metal on the drain plug. Never had and SC with high mileage tho.

I think I'd be having my oil analyzed for particulate matter.
I had a 3.0 with 230k unopened and would not get that much swarf.

Oil

Sounds like a good idea. Where do I have it done! Just pulled a E3.46 sparkplug out of it. I have never seen one! It runs fine. Found 6 more

I have the same oil leak... I have been procrastinating on doing a partial engine drop and pulling the oil cooler... at least my hope is that is what it is... Do you get any burning oil smell when you turn on the heat? Mine gets a bit of oil that blows through the top sides of the cylinders, and drops onto the headers, which is neat....
