3.2 pings even with 91 octane
I have a stock 3.2. No mods at all. Maybe 10k miles on full rebuild. Passes CA emissions. Runs well - but - it pings on hard accel at 5k rpm with oil temp at 200F with 91 octane. Is this common?

No, I don't think so. Mine has never pinged that I've heard, not ever.

Definitely not common! Check for aftermarket chip and possible lean condition due to vacuum leaks.

Is this pinging from one tank of gas? I've gotten a bad tank of gas before that has resulted into some pinging that was not typical.
If it is typical, then, yeah, you have some sort of issue.

Check the operation of the Wide Open Throttle switch. That was my issue. Bad solder joint inside. Ken
