Car suddenly won’t turn over. No start.
Hello all,
I have a newly rebuilt 1972 911T. It was swapped for carbs. Last week I had some issues with the oil pressure sender unit so I relocated it to the proper location for a 1972 and moved forward (thank you to those that helped). It would turn over and I ran it for just seconds before shutting it down because I couldn’t figure a good oil pressure reading. All of the sudden with the changes I made I don’t have anything out of the starter and no spark. I swapped out every fuse (should have been done earlier) and the starter relay. The only thing I know that is working is the new fuel pump. It won’t turn over at all. I had the CDI box rebuilt and the car started great prior to messing with the oil pressure and temp sensor. I cleaned contacts, etc. Any thoughts on this. All the sudden a bad starter? Any suggestions on next steps? Last edited by GeminiBlue911T; 10-29-2023 at 11:11 AM.. |

You swapped carbs for a whole car? Great deal!
More seriously, since you relocated the pressure sender, you had to mess with the wiring harness to do it. I think it's likely that you pulled the yellow wire off the starter solenoid, or broke it. Inspect to make sure it's securely connected, and then test for voltage at the starer solenoid terminal when you turn the key to start. Make sure you put the right wires back onto the right connectors too.

That was it! Wow that was easy…and unnoticed. Appreciate it.
Popped off a few time. Clamped down and much better now. Now I have a misfire issue. I’ll start a separate thread. It’s a totally different issue. |
