3.2 Carrera airbox
I am removing the K&N cone style filter from my 88 Carrera and have sourced an OEM replacement. There is a bung located on the side of the air box closest to the engine post filter for a line of some sort. I can't seem to locate a line that needs a home in my engine bay, so hoping a fellow Pelican can help out with a diagram, or some hints on what should be plugging in there. There is also some suspect looking copper line from the intake elbow running to a "Y" behind the engine, does this look correct??
Step two is to drill the lid for the stock air box. ![]() |

Here is a pic of the "Y" at the back and the copper looking tube.

The hose attachment on the back of the airbox is supposed to run thru the passenger rear wheel well (by the oïl fill) and to the carbon canister mounted there. It attaches to the output of the canister so that the intake can pull in and burn any fumes coming thru the fuel evaporation system. You can just plug up the airbox hole if you don't have a carbon canister.

That Y line has been mickey-moused to avoid paying for the very expensive Porsche rubber adapter that goes from the copper line and is large enough to go over the plastic Y fitting. I found a silicone fitting that works in its place for around $15.
