Engine reinstall, G50 Shift Coupler re-attach-HELP

Seems real simple but I cannot get my G50 shift rod to slide all the way in to my cars coupler.

I can get it part way but not all the way to line up the holes for the bolt.

Tricks??

Thanks

I just put my motor back in and had the same problem.
Unless it's lined up perfectly, it binds up.
I took it apart at the rear joint in the tunnel, mated it to the transmission, then bolted it back together in the tunnel.

Thanks. That what I just did. However most of this is my fault. It seems when I jacked the car from the center tunnel area I had the jack too far forward and bowed the forward part of the tunnel.

After we took apart the coupler we rapped on the tunnel bottom from the top to bend it back down. Now she seems to shift good. (Still haven't driven her)

Thanks again.

You shouldn't be picking the car up from there. That far forward you are picking up most of the car's weight on a spot that is very clearly not designed to take it.
