Looks like a nice daily driver :)
Found this on my daily rounds on various for-sale listings. Not associated with the dealer but looked interesting...

Geez, don't let JackO see this thing!!
What an awesome machine!! I'd love to spend a day driving that thing at Laguna Seca or Mid-Ohio or Road America...

Wow - it looks like a really nicely prepared race car. It's a bit of a stretch calling it an "S" though -- isn't it? Since the engine is a 3.2, the transaxle a 930, the hood, fenders and doors are fiberglass. The instruments, seats and steering wheel are aftermarket. Just about everything else has been removed. I think that leaves the roof, floor and some of the internal panels as "S" items.
It is nicely done though.

330 HP Carrera 3.2 engine? I'd like to know what they did to it.

Getting a little more then 100 bhp/liter from a 911 motor is not unheard of. Given the fact that the tach is spun so that 8000 RPM is straight up, I'm guessing they built something like a 3.2 liter 906 or RSR motor. So this would entail:
*10.5:1 CR * 906 or RSR Cam * Twin Plug * Hi-rise manifolds and larger chokes on the carbs. * The appropriate work done to the crank and rods so that it can stay togother at 8000 RPM+ * All of the associated updates to the oil system and other assemblies to keep the motor together at 8000 RPM+ By the way, an interesting footnote that I've noticed. It seems that conceptually, Porsche had 1 race engine configuration from the mid-60's throughout the aircooled period. They varied the materials, cylinder count and capacity, but the basic concepts (and HP per liter) remained the same. Look at the HP per liter, torque and HP peaks for the 906, 911ST, 911RSR, 908 and 917 engines. The similarities are surprising.

I still don't get it...why use 930 tranny? Than engine doesn't have so much torque and what it has is probably peaky ... better to have more available gears...

If someone put $60k your hands and said "build me a track car" I don't know that you could replicate this car.
OTOH, I've seen similarly-equipped track cars in the $30k-$40k range. Once LU, SUNW, ORCL et al climb above $50 again, you other track guys better watch out! ![]()
