What do you mean by tasteful backdate?
Awesome car by the way and cool color.
Not my car but, but I think these SC's, mid years and Carreras stand on their own these days and making them something they are not has to be a personal passion.
All these cars when they are sorted out mechanically and cosmetically are just friggin marvels of engineering.
Taking a knife to these cars should give one pause, the days of it is just an SC are long gone.

I knew someone would call me out on the carpet on this. SmileWavy
I agree with you in principle, at the same time I fall into the camp of those who believe that impact bumpers were an afterthought addition due to changing US legislation. Then Porsche got lazy and kept them unchanged for 15 years. SO... while the car is a classic in its own right, I'm a big fan of the longhood cars while also being a fan of having slightly more modern mechanicals underneath.
I understand from your comments that you don't believe a tasteful backdate exists. Fair enough. But to define what I mean: long hood, pre-74 "S" front fenders and both bumpers, silver brightwork, interior refresh, and respray in the original color. *No* stripes, ugly extra headlights, massive flares, snowplow-sized wings or any other crap. Same car, just without the impact bumpers, and with silver trim. Thats about it...
Anyway, it will be a long time before I do anything at all, in the meantime I'll drive and enjoy the car as it is. :-)
