seems like my sender is an oddball part number. I don't see any mention of it online. It is labeled 911606112000. It is also clearly labeled 200°C.
My gauge has markings at 60, 90, 120 and 150. Is it the right sender? I will get a thermometer today. Thanks -Glenn |

That sender works with the older gauge with 60 90 150 170 (long red area at top).

I just bought that same sender for my '81 SC, and that's not the gauge I have. I think there are 3 flavors of gauge and would think they each have their respective sender?
Todd PS - that looks like about 225ish. After how long driving?

alfisti,
I'll let you know what numbers are on my new sender when it arrives. Have you put a thermometer in the tank to check actual oil temp? While my gauge indicated the oil would have been in the high range, the thermometer only showed 180. |

Works best on dark surfaces as very bright shiny bits can reflect the beam. |

So, I checked with the new thermometer and it seems roughly accurate? Check out the highest reading... 93.3. Looks pretty close?

Gauge seems high to me. First line is 90 right?

Yes. The gun says 93.3... Also, that was measured off the bottom of the oil tank. I would think the crankcase would be a couple of degrees higher. What is everyone else seeing?

Success! I installed the new sending unit and drove. The gauge never got above the top of the first line. It's only in the 50's here today but even on days like today the car would show that it was running closer to the top white line than the middle line.
When I pulled the old sending unit the date was 12/74 which would make sense being the PO was going to put a 74 or 75 gauge in the car he was going to use the 3.2 in. |
