Question 3.2 exhaust?

Do all OEM stock 911 exhaust systems come from the factory as 1-in/1-out or was there a 2-in/2-out or 2-in/1-out factory option?

How about ROW cars, did they have 2-in/1-out or 2-in/2-out mufflers?

To the best of my recollection, ROW is the same, Cat is replaced by Pre-Muffler in some markets. The HEATING system dictated the exhaust configuration for all markets.

You can check the factory parts drawings but I just looked and they list the same for all markets 1 in-1 out muffler with no other factory configuration or option shown.

Some have backdated the heat and exhaust but this would not have been factory installation for any 3.2

Up through the '74 model year all 911 had headers that dumped into a 2 in 1 out muffler, the only exceptions were race cars.

911 from MY75 through MY 89 and 964 all(My89-MY94) used a header setup where the right side crossed over to the left and both were routed through either a premuffler or cat, thence to a 1 in 1 out muffler, 964 actually had 2 inline mufflers, both 1 in 1 out

MY993 was the first since MY74 911 2 have 2 in 2 out exhaust but is a somewhat different form, on 993 the 2 header banks were routed to a 2 in cat, early US versions(MY94/95) and RoW had a mixing chamber for the 2 inlets and then 2 outlets, US MY96 up 993 have 2 in cats but no mixing chamber, both sides are kept separate at all times, after the cat 993 has a 1 in 1 out muffler in each quarter panel.
