Question Euromeister 17's on an 89 M491?

I have an 89 M-491, right now running Kinesis 17x8.5 and 10.5; at euro height.

I am trying to go back to a more stock look.

I am looking at the Euromeister 17 x 8 for the front and 17 x 9 for the rear.

The question is, will they work?

How will they look?

Will I need spacers? If so, what size?

I want to reuse the current tires, as they have plenty of tread left.

I am running 245/40 in the front, and 275/40 in the rear.

ALL feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Rod

You should be fine. 245s may be a little big for the 8s, but it should still work. I ran 235s on my car.

RSM,

I asked precisely the same question several weeks back.....I want the 8's on the front too! I've a M491 Coupe and really don't want the 7's with big spacers?

Issue with the Euromeister 8's is the offset. The board here told me that I couldn't do it.

I'm subscribed. Wheeldude is promising some newly manufactured Fake Fuchs "soon". Don't know if I can wait though....

Do you know what the ET of the Kinesis wheels is? And are you running spacers now? Do you like the way what you have fits?

The answers to the above would help determine what replacements would work

I do like to look right now, height etc. I do not know if I am running spacers or not, as I have not taken the wheels off the car since I bought it 5 years ago. Any way to tell without taking off the wheels?

Here is what I know about the rims.

17" Kinesis K57 Rims

17 x 8 Front 245/40

17 x 10 Rear 275/40

Thanks!

No they aren't marked, you would have to rear the serial # and then inquire of Kinesis

The only other way is to measure, the backspace and then calculate

Not that this means crap, but the euromeister site claims that the 8's and 9' will work with a 911 Turbo?

Euromeister Alloy Replica Wheel 17x8 (ET 10.6) for the Front?

or

Euromeister Alloy Replica Wheel 17x7 (ET 23.3) for the Front?

Euromeister Alloy Replica Wheel 17X9 (ET 15) for the Rear?

Thanks!

Here's the issue
a stock M491 used 7ET23.3 and 9ET15 x16 wheels, in front there was no separate spacer in back they used spacer 930.331.911.04 which I believe may have been 54mm thick

So yes the Euromeister 7ET23.3 will fit like the oe Fuchs 7ET23.3, but it may not fil the wheel well like the current 8.5" Kinesis. To determine how it compares to what you have now you need the ET

A similar situation in back, yes the Euromeister 9ET15 will fit like an oe Fuchs 9ET15 if you add the oe spacer. Again I believe that it is 54mm but am not 100% sure. But again the question really is how does that combo compare w/ what you have now.

You really need to provide either the backspace or ET. W/ the bead width and backspace or w/ the bead width and ET I can tell you exactly how various wheels will fit compared w/ what you have now or compared to oe.

Note that if the fronts are 8.5" that is the bead width and the total width will be 9.5", in back if the bead width is 10.5" then the overall width is 11.5" because Kinesis have .5" lips

Ok, I will go through all my paper work, and see maybe if it's on there.

Stupid question, but I assume all K57's are not the same? In other words would it be possible to just look the specs up on that Kinesis model?

21mm front spacer 930.341.611.00
54mm rear spacer 930.331.911.04

Thanks!

Thanks for the confirmation of the .04 size, I knew the .00 but your car doesn't use it.

No all K57 are not the same, I have a set of K57 8ET25 and 9.5ET19.05 on one of my cars.

As far as I can recall they never published the available o/s or at least I don't have a record of it and I do for most of the wheels that I shopped for back in the day. When I bought mine I dealt w/ a Kinesis rep who spec'ed them and I asked him to provide the full spec's. At the time it was all a big secret and I was sworn to secrecy, apparently they were all competing w/ each other to provide the secret formula for 911 wheel fitments,

TG those days are over

the problem of going with Euromeister 17x8 and 17x9 is that they both have identical dish, and the nuts are more recessed to accommodate wider wheel with same dish

therefore to achieve the desired staggered look of smaller dish at the front and bigger in the rear with Euromeisters you would need to go to 17x7 and 17x9 and use spacers just as the yellow car above. You won't be able to reuse your tyres as they are too wide for them

tyres commonly used on 17x7: 205/50, 215/45, 225/45
17x9: 255/40

Is that what you are running on your narrow body Targa?

Thanks!

Boss you are absolutely correct, it does depend of the look you want. I decided to have a 16 front and 17 back look on my Targa. So it will be RSM's choice which way he wants to go with it.
