Fuel Pump Runs w/ Engine Off

The fuel pump on my '74 911S starts humming as soon as I turn the key to the "run" position, but before I crank or start the car. I've never had a CIS car do this... I've never had a CIS car this old either.

Did Porsche not have the safety features figured out in '74? or is my car hacked?

Michael

Fuel pump safety switch wasn't a feature until 1976.
Your car is acting normally.
Enjoy

I was hoping to hear that. I think. Of course, the safety feature could come in handy some day...

Thanks Dennis.

I've seen some people install an intertial cutoff switch for piece-of-mind in a collision. I've looked for them for my '75, but haven't found one that I thought would be worthy of getting installed (they all seem kinda cheesy...).

I've suggested a rollover switch like in a Ford Bronco II to some people that have switched over to carbs. Fairly inexpensive.
