no start 1987 carrera

Here is the issue my car was doing fine, till i put it in the garage for a broken odometer fix. It currently has no speedo. I went to try to move it and it won't start. Do 87 no run when the speedo is out?

Speedo should not affect starting. Check DME relay under the drivers seat first.

+1 No Odo should be fine, I drove without one when I had all my gauges refurbished but you did tape/insulate the connectors, right?

You may have drained your battery, make certain there is 12.6+ volts

+1, swap the spare DME relay as suggested.

no start 87 carrera

Ok guys it started up again. After the first person here told me that it should run without the speedo,i searched for fuel pump syntoms and dme relay syntoms as well they all check out ok, then somebody was talking in a thread about those three connectors on the driver side intake manifold which are bolted on a metal plate. They said that the same problem arouse for them a no start condition and that the wires wer aking bad connection due to being fried from the engine heat after years. Well i go and king of replug these and bam it fired right up and still is doing fine. Guess i'll have to check those connections. What led to my symptoms as i backtracked my actions was that i replaced both front and rear lid struts but i was having trouble with that rear strut due to my huge hands and limited space so i must have disturbed those connections. Well the good thing is that is runs. Thanks to all thast replied and that got involved with this issue i was having. I like sites like these where seriouse proffesinal people get involved and help without any type of bs. Take care and thanks to all
