I know...no drinking and admiring...

I just got home after throwing down a few cold ones, and I just couldn't stop looking at my 911. I mean...I've had the car for almost 3 years, the paint is less than acceptable, but the car is so captivating. Grill me if you will, but I just love the shape and style of my 911. Am I the only one that stops to look and just appreciates the smooth lines, or am I just out in left field?

Kemo, your'e not on your own.

My name is Victor and I drink and stare at my 911 also. Sometimes, I even lie under the engine bay and stare in wonder.

No, you are the only one here that likes Porsches. Now go to sleep.

Haha, just kidding man. Actually I think it should be mandatory in building code that a double set of sliding glass doors face the driveway so one can watch t.v. and have something decent to look at during commercials (other than the gal....fweeuu that was close).

I had mine for about a year and am still seeing new interpretations of curves, flats and the blending of horizontal/vertical surfaces. Them guys were geniuses.

A couple of weekends ago, I pulled the car out in the driveway, set a chair on the lawn in the shade, lit up a nice cigar, and had more than one drink while looking at her fondly. My wife even sat out and had a glass of wine to keep me company!

It must be a sickness as I have it also. I've been thinking about sleeping one night in my car.....

No really, I am now out looking at a new house so that I can get a bigger garage to hold the pcar and it's associated stuff.

I've done this a lot! One night I found myself halfway up the driveway after taking the trash out just staring at her like some supermodel in my driveway. When I went to look at the widebody targa roller I'm getting from my brother I fell in love with it even though it's stripped most of the way down, riding on four spares and in several shades of primer. My wife even commented to me once when I came in from washing the P-car "hey why don't you fondle me like that" There definately is something special about these cars.

Kemo -

It's now 6:50 am here on the East Coast and I just had my first "attack" of the day. About 20 minutes ago I went to retrieve the trash cans from the garage and move them to the curb when I glanced at the SC. Next thing I knew I was sitting on the garage steps just staring and reliving some of my recent drives in the car ... 10 minutes later I came back to reality and finished the trash can job.

It truely is amazing how the shape, sight, sound, feel and look of our cars can transform grown men into jellyheads.

I wouldn't want to live any other way

If I lay under my engine admiring it for too long, I'd get an oily head. It's a bit of a mess under there.

However I never get tired of telling people that the engine and gearbox are made of magnesium, especially British car owners 'cos they've never dreamed of things like that....tee hee.

Oooh gosh, reading you guys, I'll run out and have a good stare at my Carrera... This morning, I went to the official "technical control" station for the mandatory yearly state technical survey, had a good look as the guys put her through the "testing street", a series of mechanical and electronic contraptions to measure emissions (stick a sensor down her pipe), vibrating machines to check the suspension and see if the wheels stay on the car, steel rollers to check the brakes and other mysterious measuring equipment. As part of the checkup, they also put her up on the lift, so I went under and had a good long look at the undersides, very interesting. No oil leaks! Surface rust on the exhaust! Searched and spotted the heating diafragm type valves! Oh yeah!!!

Cool

I live very close to my "real" job. Sometimes I will drive the Porsche to work rather than walk or take the mini pu. When I do, I try to get there a little early to park the Porsche in a "special" spot where it can't get door dings.

After that I go up to the second floor conference room and a couple of times a day and check/stare at her. She's 27ys old and looks absolutely great.

Good luck,
David Duffield

I am storing a couch in my garage at the moment but I am in no hurry to move it. Now I can stare in comfort.

What was that show with Robert Urich and his garage was in the middle of his house.

I have had the car for over 7 years and every time I walk in the garage I admire the lines. Not to mention its nice to park it out in the culdesac and check it out as you ride the mower across the lawn. Makes the mowing more fun!

When ever I'm driving, I try to steal a peek when I pass any large storefront glass windows....
