I am having the same problem. Top goes up and down but not latching. I did get the latches to work once when I was messing with it and I hear a slight "click" when I have the to micro switched on the top edge taped down. Think the motors still work. Would love to have the manuals emailed to me if someone has them available. Search online turned up absolutely nothing as far as manuals. Thanks.

It's fairly easy to troubleshoot the cab-top. Read here under Porsche/Cab Top; https://www.systemsc.com/problems.htm

Once the top is in the middle, it should move up or down independent of the SL/SR and ZL/ZR switches.
In this position, the UP & Down limit switches and the SL/SR & ZL/ZR switches can be easily tested with an ohmmeter,
and the complete functionality of the cab top simulated/tested.

Trouble with Cabriolet Top Open/Close

Hi mate, I'm here in Australia tearing my hair out I've just broken another one of my convertible frame bows - looks as if one of the motors has failed but I've been having trouble for ages in trying to set up the whole system in my '88 Cab.

I did see you have a couple of manuals that could help me out I would greatly appreciate if you could forward me copies if you still have them as I'm in a dead end now and not sure where to turn.

Plus 1 here for a Manual conversion. When I got my 964, i helped the prev owner pull out a broken drive unit. When I got it I took out the other one. I use the roof power locks to lock it in n open it, but then it’s a 3 sec flip back and put the cover on it. Must have done it 4 times in last 2 days. So easy.

Having the same issue w/ my '88 cabriolet. Does anyone have the service manuals they could share? Maybe we could host them online somewhere since this is such a common issue?

Any information about converting to a fully manual top mechanism would be helpful as well, I may go that route.

I may try just replacing the switch on the dash as rekstein1 had success, but I'm pretty skeptical that's the fix (unless there are independent connections for left and right release motors within the switch?). My problem is only on the driver's side release motor, issue comes and goes.

FWIW this seems to be the most comprehensive thread dealing with debug of this issue: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/342119-cab-power-top-electrical-testing-diy.html

I was lucky enough to find that the previous owner had been messing with the control unit and the far right connector was not seated properly. Boom - problem solved.
