I've been searching for a 911 and found one I'd like to purchase. I was planning to send it for a PPI asap but the seller just sent me the following values from a compression and leakdown test he performed yesterday. The results seem concerning to say the least.
Compression (Dry test) Left Bank Right Bank Cyl 3 125 Cyl 6 130 Cyl 2 135 Cyl 5 130 Cyl 1 125 Cyl 4 135 Leakdown Left Bank Right bank Cyl 3 75/60 (20%) Cyl 6 75/55 (27%) Cyl 2 75/55 (27%) Cyl 5 75/62 (13%) Cyl 1 75/60 (20%) Cyl 4 75/65 (13%) Average = ~20% (Really!?!?) The car has hardly been driven over the past 8 years. I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile pursing this further. Would you expect these number to look better after a bit of use (Italian tune up)? The car ran well when I drove it - pulled harder than the last SC I test drove. It's a nice car but these figures surely make me nervous. Any insight? Thanks in advance, Spencer |

Ask if leakdown done with the engine warm or cold.
