Fein Angle Grinders On Sale
Been looking for a quality angle grinder at the right price and spotted there are some discontinued Fein ones going for a very good price right now at CPO Outlet. Paid $46 shipped for this one (there are discount codes for an extra 10% off and free shipping, if you're a skinflint like me).

Thanks!
I used to think my air driven die grinder with a 3" cut-off disc was the "best" tool in my box. Once I got one of these angle grinders and put a 4" cut-off wheel on it, it took the lead. They don't mess around.

I do not own a lot of power tools... I haven't needed one the last 20 or so years of tinkering on cars. But this brand at this price seems like a great deal. Why do I need an angle grinder?

Awesome, ordered.
So hard to find tools that aren't made in China these days.

However, I would love to just use both tools side by side to feel the difference. I have a Makita corded 1/2" drill bought in the 80's. Still runs like butter and could twist your wrist off but will turn at 20 RPM if you need it to. This Fein is a steal at $50. If you do any futzing around the house/garage projects, this tool will pay out quick. Let's say you have a bolt you want to cut back one inch. Hack saw for ten minutes or grinder for 20 seconds? Plus you can chamfer the edges before you pull the nut off. Lawn mower blade sharpening, exhaust stuff on regular cars. Anything you wish you could bring to a bench grinder can be worked in place. It's a real nice too to have in your hip pocket.

Glad I ordered it right away. We will see how it compares to my old USA made industrial Black and Decker I have. Burned out a HD HF one in under 20 minutes doing some real grinding... |

Well that was fast... Now I will end up in the HF hall of fame for buying a grinder at the last minute to get something done.

Hey, it still works apparently, but when I ordered mine there were 2 left, so now there is only one. next caller wins! I didn't need another, but it's a Fein. If it's German they are made in Esslingen am Neckar, just south of Stuttgart. My Fein Router and vacuum were made in Italy though. Had a Fein cordless drill that was Chinese. Good drill, but batteries died.

I should have bought one. They would have been pissed off with me over the free shipping offer.

I burned out my first angle grinder the cheapest one at Harbor Freight once I actually had to tackle a tough job, it was fine for quick in and out light duty stuff.
The replacement angle grinder which I currently have is a Porter Cable. It is rather long, not very maneuverable and has a trigger pull (no real lock on). Yesterday I ordered the Fein you all have been raving about, I actually have never heard of the brand I'm embarrassed to say. I have some bumper grinding and exhaust work in my future, this will not be a trophy grinder sitting on a shelf.

All of the compact grinders from 4 1/2"-6" are NLA. Oh well, that just means I'll catch the next give away.

For those on tenterhooks as to whether these are made in Bremen or Beijing, they do appear to be "made in Germany".
Also, in my haste/excitement, I forgot to credit my source: Garage Journal. |

Fein
Fein tools are top quality. In Germany they are industrial type stuff and the price reflects the quality. The story is that Fein invented the first electric drill (bohrmascheine). Festo--Festools are also from Esslingen, Festools are drool-worthy woodworking power hand tools. For some reason Esslingen is one of the centers for German power tools. Festo is big for industrial workholding pneumatic stuff. Also Fetzer is there. All top quality, best in the world. Like Porsches. Thanks for the tip!
