3.2 intake rib/support delete?

These ribs are starting to annoy me.
Anyone ever grind them off?
Do the serve any other purpose other than support the blower and act as a heat sink for the intake air?
Thanks

I removed the base for the blower.
Never missed it....

Now THAT's what I'm talking about.
Nice motor Rob. What year?

Thank you Bill.
Itīs a 3,2 ROW engine from 86.
While you are in you could also remove the scars from
casting between the intakes.

Here's my intake manifold after several hours of prep and finishing - soon to be installed.

Have you already choosen a color?

On another note, has anyone done a before dyno and extrude hone after dyno run series?

Here is a 3.2L intake in Perma chrome (ceramic coating)... casting marks removed... but I kept the bracket you are inquiring about to mount my coils to....

No, but I will tell you this... I have a before and after compairson of my intake. The thing to remember about ExtrudeHone process, is that you are not taking large amounts of material out. As such, the flow will only increase a little bit (no huge gains there). IIRC, the increase was only about 50CFM more over stock...

The real benefit comes from having the runners balanced to each other. Before ExtrudeHone process, they were 50 to 70CFM difference between all 6 runners (IIRC), and after the process, it was less than 5 CFM....

For my engine, I wanted it to be as balanced as possible, as much HP as I am looking to get out of it.....

After surface prep, the manifold was polished.....

....followed by glass bead blasting approximating an RSR Fuchs finish:

....then protected by a clear satin ceramic finish as seen in post #5.

FWIW, I recorded some in-process deletion pics.

I wonder if there's anything here I need? Oh well.

Now it's a "lightweight" intake manifold. This is about 2/3 of the debris:

What were your plans for the support for that long tube that leads to the venturi gizmo, if you chop the bracket? Just leave the tube dangling? My understanding is that the tube can be eliminated entirely if you don't need the brake booster. I'm guessing you use a brake booster though...

See post #2. The "y" junction is available at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Which "y" junction? Isn't the arrangement in post #2 just the later venturi setup which doesn't have the same support arm?
