Please reply with any & all independants that have a great reputation, a shop, a website & can communicate very well with people...)) thx in advance...bob

S-car-Go is too far. Bay Area is not that small.
The Stable in San Francisco or San Carlos German Auto. San Carlos is closer. There is a decent indie in Burlingame but their name escapes me this morning and there's a decent chance the car is already serviced there. I don't know that I would trust Rector (dealership) on one that old.

Brian at the Stable.
Wanda or Tony in San Carlos. The issue with S-car-go is it is across Golden Gate Bridge. Rob King is the owner. Dee will take your call.

Hi Tec in San Rafael. Not sure if you are in the north bay, but Dana at Hi Tec knows his stuff when it pertains to air cooled 911s.

Gary Dielacher, GDRacing, in San Bruno is also a good bet and not far from Burlingame.

3rd vote for RMG-Sunnyvale, Ca; 2nd vote for Gary D;
Mountain View has two excellent shops with excellent Street and Race experience. Heyer performance(Tony) and Modderman Porsche(David). I do most of my own work these days, but I would pay these guys to do anything for me and not have to go behind them on any 911 air-cool cars! Bob |

Tom Amon for sure, otherwise you're just making it inconvenient for the seller. If it's a dealer selling then never mind.

For a PPI, the easiest is Tom Amon - he will come to the car. An added bonus is he knows these cars inside and out. I am strongly considering using Tom once my car comes home for any maintenance required.

'88 Carrera that lives in SF and makes the occasional commute to Menlo Park. Same shop recommendations?
I've been driving by The Stable for decades. I figure it must be good to still be there and it is all of 1.5 miles from my house. Still though, if there are any other suggestions, I'll take 'em too. Thx and apologies for any hijackage. Frank |
