G50 shifting from 3rd to 4th grinding noise
So i got the 911 finally back from the never ending service spree and while test driving it i got this terrifying satanic/apocalyptic grinding/crunching noise while changing from 3rd to 4th.Just got back from the drive and found some posts about G50 grinding but nothing similar to what happened to me.The funny thing is that the clutch was depressed all the time, but maybe my shift wasnīt so accurate after so long period without driving the 911 + iīve been getting used to my new Mondeo ST200īs gearbox...
And the amount of problems i have with the G50 is just ridiculous,i learned the shift pattern of my mondeo in 20 minutes.10 hours in the 911 and still completely lost...Is there any guide how to use the G50 or something i donīt know...I just canīt get the hang of it.I look the gear stick of the 911 like it is a mass murderer but when i jump into my mondeo i just love to play with the gears because the gearbox works so smoothly.

No clue on 3 to 4 from this novice -
Have you ever updated/refreshed your engine and tranny mounts (as well as the aforementioned bushings)? It helped smooth shifting for me. Transmission fluid refreshed lately - level ok - no evidence of tiny metallic bits in the magnetic drain plug? Did your recent service spree include transmission work? Best of luck!

Bushings are shot. You should not have problems learning/shifting the G50. Precise tranny when bushings etc are in good condition. Probably fix the grinding when everything moves as it was designed to do. BTDT.

Well today i heard the same noise when changing to 4th,but it was much more silent than in the first time. Then i noticed that i donīt depress the clutch all the way to the floor,i leave about 5mm of open space between the pedal and the stopper/floor.Maybe the noise comes from my lousy use of the extreme stiff clutch,i have become so used with the soft hydraulic clutch of my ST200...

And is it common that the g50 gets noisy when not depressing the clutch all the way down?
