3.2 Engine Drop
Going to drop my engine to replace the clutch and I have a couple of questions
1 - should I drop just the engine or engine/trans 2 - where should I support the weight on the jack, I will fabricate an adapter 3 - is it worth installing a lightweight flywheel thanks Paul

Hi

1. Most folks prefer to drop eng/trans. It's the easiest way.
2. I use an ATV jack for the engine with 2x4 pieces supporting the heat exchangers. 3. A lightweight flywheel will eliminate your engine brake. I would stick with the stock flywheel. 4. Replace the crankshaft seal and flywheel bearing. 5. Replace both shaft seals on the trans. 6. Drain the trans oil before you drop the eng/trans. 7. Replace the trans oil when the trans is on the ground, its easier to fill. 8. Kendall gear oil works best in my 915. Kendall 80W-90 GL-5 NS-MP Hypoid Gear Oil (1 Quart) PN KEN-HYP 7728. (Sold by our Host.) Also there is a Kendall oil if you have a LSD trans. 9. With the engine on the ground its a good time to tune-up. Adjust valves, replace all fuel hoses, that's a must. 10. Check for engine oil leaks and repair as required. 11. Search for Threads on this. I think there's one call, "While I'm There". 12. Good luck and have fun with it.
