Engine lid squeak
I've traced a squeak in my '88 Carerra coupe to the bracket that holds the A/C condenser to the underside of the engine lid. There is a small gap between the bracket the condenser. It seems like there should be some kind of rubber piece or something to fill this gap. If I put a wooden shim in this gap, the squeak disappears.
Has anyone else experienced this, or can you comment if there is a part that belongs between the metal bracket and condenser unit/ Many, many thanks. This squeak is quite annoying! |
If it's the center support bracket near engine lid light, a piece of adhesive backed foam goes in there.

That's the bracket all right!
Can you tell me the approximate thickness? I think I'll try to fabricate something that resembles the factory part. |

The foam I used is a dense weatherstrip type seal. This is similar to what I have seen on the factory brackets.
Likely available at your local Home Depot, ACE, Lowe's etc. The roll I have measures ~13/16ths (20mm) wide and the foam is 1/4" (5mm) thick http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402758196.jpg Good luck with your fix. Cooper |
