A known parts seller from SoCal was offering an incomplete B&B exhaust system at the Ventura swapmeet last weekend. It was missing the left connection pipe.
We shook hands on a mutually agreed price and agreed to make the deal the following weekend. I was going to leave for a business trip the next day and he did not bring all the parts to the swapmeet that Saturday. When I called him the following Monday to confirm he claimed he sold the parts elsewhere. At that time I was just mildly annoyed. May have dodged a bullet there anyway Ingo. That muffler is not reinforced on the inlet pipes and not reinforced around the end caps of the casing. Cracking and leakage may be in its future? Just a guess on my part........

ISCHMIDTZ....
There could have been a bit of misunderstanding to the actual transaction. If the person you are referring to is "in fact" is Road and Race...I don't believe you'll get much sympathy. I, and plenty of others have purchased lots of product and spent lots of $$ with them, and I would stake my "REP" on their credibility and accountability.
..there are always 2 sides to EVERY disagreement. I think you may a bit OT, and should try to mitigate... Good luck, and I'm sure things will work out. |

Curtisaa,
I am not looking for sympathy here. I am simlpy telling what happened from my point of view and express my very personal feelings about it. Nothing more, nothing less. I am looking forward to hearing the other side with a reasonable explanation that sounds different than "...I pulled a monkey out of my ass...." Fact remains that I was getting nothing but lies after the fact and being treated like an idiot IMHO. is

As a norm i normally do not get involved with mud slinging, but let's lay out the facts
1) this is a different exhaust system 2) party in questioned wanted to deal BUT had no money to consumate the transaction, stop me if i'm wrong but when a individual wishes to close a transaction, they are ready with money in hand. 3) party in questioned was intoxicated 4) would you take a person's word for face value if they are under the influence? also those that have dealt with DRUNKS in the past, know that the only way to appease a situation such as this is to go along. 5) if you do a search on this Bulletion Board, as well as several others you'll see the positive UNSOLCITED responses regarding our company, Road & Race Inc. i've bought goods from road and race before.
i was pleased with the transaction and service i received. i can vouch for their credibility as a vendor. i realize there are 2 sides to every story, and i wasn't a party to this transaction, so all i can do is reinforce the service i received when i dealt with them. |

I think we have just experienced, a rare vBulletin bug. I haven't seen this before (in over 400,000 posts). Just use common sense when sorting out the above posts...

Computer Bug - just accept it, and stop trying to figure it out. Dave posted, but it showed under curtisaa - they both emailed me asking what the heck was up.

dave and curtisaa are 2 different people as i have seen both of them at the same time.
i am a customer turned friend that pitched in an extra set of hands to the road and race crew at the german auto fest in ventura that weekend. they way i remember the situation is dave told you the part may not be available and you made no agreements to hold it. if you were really serious about buying the exhaust why didn't you give a cash deposit like others did that weekend on parts? dave is a stand up guy with integrity and a long track record in the industry. misunderstandings can happen but venting in a public forum like this bbs always seems malicious to me. sure wouldn't make me want to go out of my way to help you out.

Jim,
let me put is this way. I called twice after leaving a message on Sunday. I have spoken with Dave and given it more than one try to mitigate this 'mishap'. Instead of trying to work things out he chose to yell and laugh. Even if everything happened as stated by Dave (sold the headers on Sunday, got a second set of headers with the exact same part missing over the week) he could have offered to stick to his deal or work out another one rather than yelling at me over the phone and giving me the runaround and listing the part on Ebay. I have dealt with numerous people in the past, have sent cash upfront for goods unseen and usually extend a lot of trust in my dealings. This however was my worst experience so far. I am merely listing facts and my personal feelings about those. There is nothing wrong in sharing that with others, is there? I am sure Dave stands behind his actions and does not have a problem with this. is
