Pics of my new '78SC

I have been posting a few threads lately relating to my new to me 78SC and some have asked for pics. First, thanks for all the help so far. I know I will have more questions as I dig in to replace the 8 broken head studs . . . .

The car has 35K on the OD. I am the second owner. Exterior paint is rough and faded -- it looks like the prior owner stored the car with a tarp over it at some point which rubbed away the paint on the roof down to the primer. Also, there are a few dings here and there and some spots where the paint chipped away around the doors and lid edges. Interior is nice -- driver's seat a bit worn on the edge where you slide in, but the leather is supple and not cracked. Headliner is a mess. Dash is nice except for insertion of 80's tape deck. Carpet appears to be original and fairly plush -- deck under the carpet is shiny black paint! More shiny black paint, clean wires and connections under the hood and in the wheel wells. Can't find any rust anywhere except on heat exchangers and some engine tin. Rubber seems decent all around. Not sure about the originality of the front black rough fiberglass? valence under the bumper.

That is it for now. More pics and reports and questions to come as this project moves forward.

Welcome! It's rewarding to get stuff sorted so just enjoy the journey.

Black coupes are the best but I might be a little biased.

A diamond in the rough!

Make sure you spend more time driving it than making it pretty.

These cars are athletes before beauty queens!!

The slope is not slippery; in fact it is entirely frictionless.

Pics of my new '78SC

Black is nice,
Here's my '78 one foggy day last winter.
3 years and 6000 or 7000 miles after replacing the head studs.

Excellent! 1978 was the first year of the first bulletproof 911 , what's not to like?
(forgetting the head studs and chain tensioner hiccups of the era...excellence was not always delivered)

Seriously , all the best people own 78sc coupes

Lespaul congrats on the new SC. My son picked up a black 83 end of last year. Like yours needed some cosmetic work and some fine tuning. With the help of pelican we got a lot done to it. Great cars good luck with it.

Congrats - love black cars. Wish I owned one. For your rubber pieces, to restore to like new buy a rubber/plastic die called Forever Black. You may need to apply 3 coats but your black pieces will look like new. Word of caution, don't get it on your paint (for those with non-black cars) because it will also permanently die you paint if you get sloppy. It comes in an applicator like shoe polish with a sponge tip. Great stuff on all black pieces.

End of commercial - but nice find and congrats
