1) Wayne himself started an OT topic on this subject!
2) You are dealing with a close knit community of people where some are directly involved and possibly have loved ones who have been lost. 3) you always have the right to just not read the thread! 4) If you have not noticed yet this is more than just a Porsche Bulletin Board. Rgds Ben |

I am disturbed by some of the remarks made here, and particularly by some of the personal remarks made toward other members.
I do not favor putting any stop to this. This is an extremely important national debate/discussion. It has to happen and we have become so isolated from one another in our culture that the Internet is, frankly, our new Town Square. I am very thankful for Pelican. I think my friends here are intelligent, educated and (for the most part) responsible. I need to discuss these incredibly important personal national and international issues and you guys are outperforming most of my verbal conversations here in my local community. I our members are everywhere on the globe. Very, very important to me. Thanks, Wayne. You've been terrific for the entire almost two years that I have been coming here. BTW, one of our distinguished members e-mailed me to point out I had reversed the ethical philosophy thing. Humans are ends in themselves, not means. And this was Immanuel Kant, not John Locke. I can sure be an idiot sometimes. Thanks for tolerating us all. ------------------ '83 SC |

Wayne, I would be happy if you locked ALL threads on the topic of the WTC. They belong in the new forum you created.
Its obvious that these type of posts are causing disention and other mud slinging. Allowing this type of activity to continue will put an end to this fine forum as we know and love. Just my opinion. |

I agree with Superman.
We and I "need" this forum to vent and discuss ideas. I listen to talk radio constantly and watch the news as much as possible, but I enjoy our discussions more. I think we have some well educated folks here and I enjoy thier ideas and opinions even though they may differ from mine. People who have been calling into the radios are very disappointing and have no idea what they are talking about, sad really. Frankly I will second Kurt B's attitude of the 911 is a mear trinket compared to the magnitude of events happening around us now. My 911 could catch on fire or roll off a cliff and I would not bat an eye today. Thanks Wayne! God Bless, ------------------ Adrian Pillow 1979 911 SC 1966 VW Microbus PCA - Peachstate Region |

Hey Paul,
This might be a Porsche room, but I am still trying to find some members that I am friendly with from this and other Porsche forums. The fact that you are not affected as much as we are is more a personal thing, since you are in another country, but thankfully this is not indicative of most. Trust me when I say, we are not way overheated. I am thankful that this forum has the level of intelligence in both membership and management to allow something such as this tragedy to exist. In New York, our phone lines are not consistantly up and this has been, along with emails, have been a primary way of communication. All The Best, Marc BTW... if you don't like the Subject Matter, don't open it up and don't enter into it. It is, after all, a free country. Having put aside some busy time to read a few more of these OT threads I must now admit that I am a little upset by some of the extreme statements but understand that some of these may be due to the emotional turmoil that some of us are going through i these trying times.
Maybe peoples true colors are shineing through, which may be a good thing as we can see them as they really are. Or maybe they are themselves suffering physcologically and will revert back to their normal self. Either way this board I fear will never be the same again- shame, maybe!. I have worked legally in the USA on and off for the past 8 years and have more US friends than non US. As I work for a Cayman Island Coorporation aboard a Cayman Island Registered vessel I work here legally, abide by the rules and ways of this great country. I feel sad that you feel this way about 'All' foreigners, but should I be asked to leave on this basis officially, I would be glad to!. Having read some of the racist comments I fear for the safety of anyone who even appears to be of Arabian descent. Dare they smile in public -it might be assumed that they are smileing about recent tragic events. For me, I am going to make sure I even stay out of the sun for fear of getting a suntan!!!. There are small minded individuals in every country. When these people have extreme beliefs sometimes these beliefs are taken a step further when they are put into actions. Throw in a few easily avilable weopons and these people who cannot balance emotions and create rational thoughts, become dangerous vigilante's or even terrorists themselves!. These events can bring the best and the worst out of people, it just depends on your charactor. Regardless of your political/national standpoint I hope that mankind pulls through these trying times and reverts back to a society that he/she is proud to live in!. God Bless everyone! (not just America!) Ben |

I hope you't not over with Saffeau and Szabo crying in the corner!
The conflict in here isn't much compared to the conflict that is coming, so buck up. In all seriousness, it'll die down soon enough. I'm running out of things to say myself...although I did discover, that I'm in dire need of medical/psychological attention. |

I for one read this post at work. Without this board I would be somewhat out of touch during the working hours of the events unfolding. Sure I could read other internet site, but this post provides a person touch that cannot be found on a pure news forum. This board provides me with some solice by hearing others opinions on the subject.
While some of the posts may be considered way out there, this board is an important place for its members to talk, gather opinions, or for others or just vent. During this time, the need to vent is greatly needed. Understandign the mindset of different persons helps all of us come to a solutition. Wayne, by moving the topic back to the main board you demonstrated great judgment. This event is the probably the most significant event in U.S. history. It affects everyone as evidence by the many posts from our foreign members. While I don't know many of the posters personally, I feel that I could pick up a conversation with many of them on the spot. I enjoy reading what others member think on this subject. I do not want to sensor members such as Superman, Warren, Johnny Walker, Kurt and many many others who not only provide us much needed help with our P-car, but their reactions on the recent events. Their personal beliefs provide insight. you may dissagree but at least you where exposed to the subject. ZThrough this discussion we all grow. For those of you who believe the topic does not belong on this board, you don't have to read. Thank you Wayne for providing this forum and providing us with the opportunity to discuss amoung ourselves the unfolding tragity of the U.S., or the world. I may not always make sense, and I may disagree with others, but the difference of opinions helps all of us think this through. ------------------ Paul 78SC Targa |

I mentioned what these type of posts (if continued) could do to this forum. To come back with a Stalin/Hitler comment shows what a small minded imbecile you really are. |

They want no material thing we can offer them. They don't want to participate in the community of nations. (They don't really believe in the nation-state.) If you have fear we have lost our freedom and must get it back at all costs... Otherwise we are not Americans anymore. Neil Bortz a local talk radio commentator warned of our double edged sword here. We must watch that big government does not limit our fredoms at this time by creating new laws against civil liberty, but we must also control terrorism at the same time. This may be difficult. Sorry this is wrong:
"If you cannot walk onto a plane in the US today without fear then we have won" change "cannot" to "can". |

these posts are important; they identify the men from the boys.
all of the whining liberals, conspiracy theorists, islamic sympathizers, and worst of all; those who feel that in any way the USA is responsible for this. you don't deserve to live in the best country in the world. shape up, grow up, stand up and be men. if you can't handle it, get out of the way. |

Planter- the greatest country in the world?
Have you actually lived in any other countries or do you just sit in front of the TV?. Extreme macho rantings have often be found to made by 'closet queers', so you go 'stand up and be men' "Who -Har". Kurt- it's a shame that your once humourous satirical comments have digressed to illogical emotional rantings!. The medicine is on the way, just hang in there ![]() |

You are out of control. Insulting peoples' names on Internet forums? This like you're in the playground, so who really is crying in the corner? Once and for all STOP insulting my name and generally put your energies into doing something good rather than name calling here: you're embarrassing yourself. Again, I mean that, you've obviously got a lot of tensions over this - we all have, you're not the only one - and it's making you do this kind of s***. Put it to good use, DO SOMETHING! i'm sorry miss, i didn't mean to offend you. you must have never met anyone of strong character before. that is sad, but i guess we need people like you to do the dishes. no offense, but trying to imply that strong men are somehow gay is just an excuse that you have concocted because you are not comfortable with your lack of testosterone. if you do not think this is the greatest country to live in, then leave. i surely will not stop you. |
