********** 11-blade Fan

Does anyone know if there are any issues dropping the Vertex aluminum reproduction 11-blade fan into an original magnesium housing/shroud? It seems that some people have been less than happy with the repro shroud, but what about the fan? Is it only intended to be used with their shroud?

If you mean their EPS branded one, I'm interested in feedback too on quality and compatibility.

I have both the shroud and the fan in the 88 Carrera. Been installed for a couple of years now. I'm pretty happy with it. Doesn't look like the mag stuff and no worries about cracking. That said, I had to do a little dremel work to get the fit right. Nothing big just a little here and a little there. Opened up a few areas ever so slightly so that removal of fan and alternator will be easier when necessary.

According to the uk seller I was going to use it's only the
78-79 sc where you need to replace fan and housing

I've read the vertex sold part comes with vertex stamped into the housing?

I have both the fan and the housing on my 86 3.2 L engine. The housing was cracked and I could not get a replacement. Nor could I find anyone who would weld the magnesium. So I bought a new housing and fan from vertex. It looks good and has been just fine. I do not think they will recommend a new housing with the existing fan. Most magnesium fans that age have some "fatigue" cracks. The aluminum is supposed to last a lifetime. The weight difference is minimal.

I have the vertex housing and used the original fan. The shop I used to go to almost refused to put the vertex housing in my car because of how bad it looked. Luckily, they blasted the paint off of it and they made a few modifications to make the alternator fit. The housing I got didn't have vertex stamped on it. Now, it looks stock and I don't have to worry about it every cracking. The only problem is the TDC mark is an eighth of an inch to the left (driver's side).
