Interesting Hardware Anomaly
I got my car re-aligned today after replacing the steering rack again. An "opportunity" arose - the right-rear toe adjuster went missing. The shop manager told me that sometimes that happens because that area flexes a lot, and it will shear (his words, not mine.) They are covering the cost of replacement, because they touched it last - can't fault them there - but I think his explanation is humorous at best.
Any opinions? Personally, I think they just didn't tighten stuff completely.

Your assessment is probably correct - a face saving story on his part - willing to bet he didn't put up much of an arguement about covering the cost either.
Unless of course, you run through pot holes deep enough to bury people in AFJuvat
