Does VW lens fit 911

Hello all!
I have a simple question.

Am I right in believing that 1958-66 clear headlight lenses would directly fit 1982 911 (those with raised lenses, like the one in the pix below).

I would appreciate your comments.

I believe the VW lens will fit the 65 to 68 Euro cars. Not sure if they will fit in the H4 (that you have pictured) light.

There was a projector headlight thread that talked about using VW lens covers in the conversion.

I can't verify the year of VW which these lenses are from but, they do fit the H4 headlight assembly.

p.s. before anyone gets upset, this is just a test fit, I'm not running like this!

Thanks for the feedback so far; hopefully someone would shed more conclusive light on this issue. I bought the lenses a few months ago to fit my 80 SC, but they did not fit (it was somewhat oval shape. The 82 I own now (wide-body) has head lights as shown in the pix; that is why I am trying to find out more fact on it.

Thank you all any way!
Cheers,
the Car-nut!

they do fit, however, you need to use LHD euro lenses with the proper refractors in order to have a directed beam.

Like John Walker said the lenses you have will fit, but the clear ones are to be used with sealed beam type of headlights.
There are other VW, 356, early 911/912 that will fit and you will have a light pattern. Something like this

Clear Lens

I did this project on my 87, kinda per Daniel Sterns mention. First photo is his and second is my car. Buckets are VW as is the glass. I had to do some finagling to get the H5 painted ring to fit decent. Third photo is how it is now painted black and all the adjusting screws and holes filled for a smoother look. Of course was a bit tedious to align the one time. Lights are Cibies with Hi wattage H4 bulbs. The bucket seems to stay dry and the ring still pushes on nicely and holds well with the one screw.

I wouldn't go with the early lens unless you have a early looking car. Just my opinion.
