I'm new to the list. I'm going to ask a Porsche related question. I know that this may seem out of bounds with what has just happened to us here in the U.S., but my feeling about this is as follows: If we quit living our "normal" lives, then maybe the terrorists DID defeat us. I'm not saying we should ignore what happened....no one here in the U.S. will, and I think we have to have faith in, and support our country and government as much as we can at this time, but it's time to get on with our lives. I, for one, am not going to let this consume me to the point that I can't see straight anymore. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday doing that. Then I realized that if I let these jack asses rule my life with anger, then they have won! I refuse to let them win. I think the English call it a stiff upper lip.
Now the Porsche question. The manuals for the 964s are pretty bad. Is there anyplace on the web that shows photos of all the sensors the DME uses, where they are located, etc. etc. Thanks |

You're certainly right about getting on with our lives. I personally find it depressing to view the non-stop coverage of this subject...and now as one other lister pointed out...to see some of the media apparently exploiting it. To answer your questions: 1. The manuals ARE bad. Of all the cars I've owned, my 964 manuals are far and away the absolute worst. You may want to subscribe to AllData (www.alldata.com) for assistance. I don't recall any photos related to sensors but they do provide decent information as well as TSBs and it's only $20/year. 2. A place on the web?? Not that I know of. If you find it, let EVERYONE know. The best I can find is this site, but they don't identify the parts, just blow up diagrams: http://www.msroadrace.com They have diagrams for a LOT of 911s, FWIW. Click on the picture of the keys at the bottom once the page loads. 3. The manuals CAN be (sort of) deciphered, but you'll need to trace through some of the DME related circuits. What brings this on? Are you getting a "Check Engine Light"? Do you have other problems? Best Wishes, Bill Wagner |
