D-Zug 935 K3 Pikes Peak Build

Over the course of the past year we've completely overhauled this 930 and we'd like to share the journey with you. We'll start at what race cars don't need...sound deadening/undercoating and go from there. Since I'm not much of a wordsmith I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Time to remove whats left of the sound deadening that was in the cabin.

Getting there...lots of multitool scrapers and wire wheels were killed in the process.

Once a section was finished it was immediately primed and painted. at the beach things rust quickly, we take a lot of preventative measures to keep the tin worms away.

Once the inside of the tub was done, we moved on to stripping the frunk of all wiring, hvac, etc.

Once a section was stripped and cleaned we immediately primed and painted just as with the inside.

Then we started on the wheel wells

Otto inspecting our work.

He approved of the weight reduction!

I'm not sure why some of the pictures are transferring upside down. I apologize but I'm not going to make an effort to fix them.

I'll spare you all the rest of the tub stripping and painting pictures, it was done the hard way with scrapers and wire wheels and I'd rather not relive those weeks of my life. Lets move on to fitting new rocker panels

looks like everything lines up

admiration phase is over, back to the grindstone.
since the cars po had cut out the front of the tub to route the oil cooler through the hood, we had to fabricate the very front of the tub from sheet steel. which lead to relocating the battery, and reshaping the tub so the air through the front oil cooler exits through the fender vents instead of under the car and adding brake ducts/nose mounts.

After finishing the tub modifications, we could finish wiring up the brains of the operation. with new wires run for the entire car we ensured that 30 year old electrical gremlins wouldn't catch us off guard.
