Who does ultrasonic parts cleaning?

Any recommendations for getting engine parts cleaned. Intake manifold, fan, fan housing, cam housings etc. Has anyone used Ultrasonic Cleaning Corp. in Carson, CA?

Dunno if you're also doing the heads, but if you are... these guys are top shelf and their main business is ultrasonic cleaning. The heads come back better than new, and with UPS, shipping wasn't much over $25 if I recall.

Gumba, if that is the place on Main St I've used them a lot for blown Harley motors. It's amazing what they get out after you think you have it clean. They always handed back a sealed back of explosion with all the cleaned and sealed in a bag parts. Always a good experience with those people. Mike.

For general parts cleaning, try your local transmission shop. The one down the street lets me fit as much as I can in their parts washer for $20. An example of before and after

You put the entire transmission in the parts cleaner?

No, everything was out of the case. I was in the process of rebuilding it. You can't put anything in the parts cleaner with rubber attached to it.

I have used them for Boxster cases & it works very well except for really built up grease spots. 2 case halves, 2 heads, 1 heat exchanger, coolant manifold & oil pan was about $200 2 years ago. Anyone know better, cheaper place in O.C.?
Or Dry Ice blaster around?

Be careful with magnesium parts.

the ultrasonic bores small pin holes into the casting. Deep too!

r-mm, this past winter when you did your rebuild, how much work did you have them do? The heads are about to come off my engine and I want to find someplace that knows Porsche engines that is closer to DC than Florida at a machine shop I found. Also, now that your engine is back together, how are you finding things settling in on the work they did for you? In other words, how has the fit & finish been after its been driven for awhile?
Thanks for your input

Ultrasonic Cleaning and Head Work

Absolutely consider using Bob Hirst and Anchor Atlantic Enterprises LLC. They are fantastic. I have used them several times for machine shop work on air cooled Porsche cylinder heads and cleaning pistons and cylinders.

They are in Pitman, New Jersey
