87 Carrera Cabriolet (M491) arrived today! Feedback on website appreciated.
Hi,
Thanks to everyone on this forum for the direct and indirect help as I fumbled my way back to Porsche ownership. There is such a wealth of information on this forum and it was very useful. I'm sure this will be an even more valuable resource post-purchase! I jumped out of my seat when I found a white/black 3.2 with an authentic factory widebody with less than 50K miles on it at Holt Motorsports. The deal went through, the PPI results were great and the shipping company came through to deliver the car today. I'm happy to report that the car has found its new home in my garage: ![]() ![]() While I was waiting for delivery I put together a website / blog for the car. I don't expect it to generate a lot of traffic, I did it mainly to keep a detailed record of my time with the car. There are links to other pages at the top of the site including details on the car, details on the M491 option, etc. Feedback and suggestions for making it better are appreciated. Porsche Carrera Thanks again for all of the help (whether you knew it or not) in my search for the right car. Cheers, Jeff

My favorite photo so far but I'm planning a photo weekend in the near future where I hope to get much better shots.

Great looking example, I've always been a big fan of GP white with matching Fuchs. Welcome!

Thanks everyone. We got back from vacation at 1 am and if it wasn’t for my two exhausted young children and even more exhausted wife I would have been tempted to go out for a late night cruise. Instead I simply put my eyes on the car for the first time in person and went to bed.
Five very short hours later my alarm went off and it was time to head to work. For the first time in a long time I was looking forward to my long commute. I quickly put on my license plates, got inside the car and started off on my first drive! A few initial impressions:

I'm sooooo happy. I just got the car back from the bodyshop where the boxed rockers were swapped for factory 930 rockers. So much better!

Really glad to hear about the Saturday morning gathering. I checked the link and does the first post have the latest information? It's hard to tell given the length of the thread.
Douglas, you are welcome to them if you want them. They are aftermarket and I'm giving them away to anyone that wants them. There is an upcoming swap meet where I hope they find a new home. They are really pretty heavy and I might have saved 15 to 20 lbs by removing them!

Jeff, you're lucky enough to live in John Walker land, one of our resident gurus. Perhaps you're going to his swap meet in a couple of weeks?

I really want to but there is also a Porsche specific car show on the same day. I'm hoping to do both.
I'm talking to John about working on my car. He's a little bit far but based on reputation I think the drive is worth it. |
