[QUOTE=Discseven;8170297]I had same melt down with mine.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1405695487.jpg A follow up on Jacks note about removing blower... the allen screw securing blower to shaft on mine was sealed with some sort of hard wax. I'm not drilling it out in the photo below... I'm just poking the stuff with a drill bit... and it came out. The blower took some time getting off the shaft. [QUOTE] The hard wax is a red locktite which prevents the screw from coming loose during operation. |
Thanks Pat. I thought it was a rust inhib.

I recently got a new motor. I was trying to get that dang Allen screw out and the Allen wrench broke right off flush inside the screw. Talk about pissing me off!

+1 on the fuse. I installed one on my car when I re-built the front fan.
On the squirrel cage. Soak soak soak in your favorite penetrating agent. For a few days. Right at the tip of the shaft, corrosion build up won't allow you to just pull the squirrel cage off. And, the cage is delicate. After soaking, use a dremel with a small wire brush to try and clean up that tip area. Do not use a puller of any kind - you will damage it. Finally - coat the shaft with anti-seize before re-installation - just in case. |
anyone know where to get those dang clips that hold the two halves of the condenser fan housing together? one was missing and another one flew off into the never to be found corners of my garage...

I'll bet that felt good!!! I hate these dangerous, ineffective, noisy, unreliable and expensive Bosch fans that I'm slowly replacing with (inverse of all previous adjectives) GM fans. just tried to order the 911612077 fuse kit from our sponsor. $48 dollars was bad enough, but after ordering they informed me that it is no longer stocked in the US and must come from Germany. But for a cool additional 20%. thats it for me. I will make my own for eight dollars. won't be a pretty but it will work.
