A arm Bushing removal?

Can anybody point me in a direction of a thread in regards to removing the A arm bushings, they are really tight and I am sure there is an easy way to get them off and new ones on again.

Regards

Nigel

Just a little bit of heat and they will slide right off. You don't need a fancy torch, just a $15 can torch from the hardware store.

Torch method worked for me. I had all four off in 5 minutes.
Follow directions at your own risk...
- Get a torch
- Bring a big screw driver that fits through the A arm bolt holes to use as a lever
- Go outside!
- Heat up the area shown in Tidybuoy's photo above just until the bushing can be turned (see next step)
- Use the screw driver as a lever to rotate the bushing until it falls off the A arm.
- Don't touch it with your hands, it's hot!
- Don't inhale any of the tasty smoke!

cheers,
dug

Here's a great video that will get you started:
Porsche 911 Rubber control arm bushing replacement installation - YouTube

I just did this, the ER bushing kit worked very nicely. There are many posts on this topic, spend some time searching and reading and you'll have no problem getting this done.

Tip: A big stout pipe or bar clamp is needed for installation. Those lightweight bar clamps that tighten when you squeeze the handle probably won't do it. Some posters have used threaded rod to do this job.
Good luck!

One more thing..look up the Elephant Racing video as it shows that when installing the new bushings (at least the rubber type), that you soap them up but need to let sit for 24 hours at a "specific" angle. After the soap completely drys, you won't be able to budge the bushings. Therefore, setting at a specific angle will aid reinstall as everything will be in the correct position for installation.
