bought pmo carbs need help

Hey guys I bought some pmo carbs for my car because I hated the cis. I got them from Scott In ct at auto associates who is a great guy.

Now all the glass on the carbs are half full except for one. I adjusted the float and it's lower then the other one in the carb but it's still filling right to the top with gas

Is there another way to make it so it's not filling all the way up??

I can't get the car to run at all

Use some carb cleaner and blow out the fuel passages. Sounds like debris under the needle seat.

Carbs brand new. Didn't think I'd have to clean them but you never know!

Always clean carbs, particularly new ones. You can chase your tail assuming they must be working properly, therefore it's something else.

Glad you sorted it out! Now tune them up and drive!

BTW, that actually looks like a tiny trimming of fuel hose.

The bowl is now resting half way. I'm still having trouble starting it. It sounds like it wants to start so bad tho!

The fuel mixture screws are two turns out. the fuel bar is a hair past 3. The timing is perfect. I'm even adjusting the distributor a little to try and get it to fire and it's just not starting.

Is it trying the catch? Did you remove the distributor? Could it be installed 180 out? I had to advance mine as it was just catching but wouldn't start. A little timing and it started right up.

Be sure your fuel pump is putting out 3.5 psi as well. Higher pressures can overwhelm the needle valves. Those PMOs are sweet looking carbs!

I'd agree that you should play with the timing as that's probably your starting issue if it's trying to catch.

I'm hoping that your your statement that the "fuel bar is a hair past 3" doesn't mean that you have your fuel pressure set at 3 bar.....which is 43.5 psi.

Fuel pressure should be at 3-4 psi.

regards,
Al

The timing is perfect I was stressing that earlier today. I feel like it's something silly that I'm not seeing

Do your pmo manifolds have the power brake vaccum port.? this is a big, threaded hole, typically on in the 1,2,3 manifold....and if so, do you have it open or plugged. If open......... it is a big vacuum leak, which can cause starting /running issues.

regards,
Al
