Is this a Carrera 3.0?

I am looking at potentially buying this 77 911 with a 3.2, but still has the 3.0 motor. The seller claims it is a Euro Carrera 3.0. I am waiting for the engine number, but the vin has 9117300205.

My understanding:

911=Type of car
7=year of make =1977
3=ROW/Japan
0 Body type=Coupe
XXXX=build sequence

When I search for Carrera 3.0 registry, the sequence after year is usually a "6" and not a "3"

Does this sequence of numbers confirm that it is not a 200hp Carrera 3.0 engine? Or do I need the engine number as a definitive proof?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I had a friend looking at it who backed off. The current owner did not appear to know much if anything about it. Seemed like a nice, but clueless, owner apparently. Couldn't say when it was repainted or rebuilt, and did not know that it was a Euro import until he listed it any someone told him.

The chassis is definitely not a Carrera 3.0. Can't tell you about the original motor until you provide a number.

If you'll give me more info, I'll let you know if it is a car I'm familiar with. Color, coupe or targa, owner's name, etc.

JR,

That 5th digit really got me concerned, but wasn't 100% sure. I will PM you as soon as I get the engine number.

Thanks,

AJ

Seems to be a K Series (Aug 1976 to July 1977) 2.7 911 chassis according to the Red Book.

C3 engine numbers start with 666 or 667.

EDIT: if the seller really is that clueless, maybe he just meant a 'Carrera 3.2' based on the engine. Sounds about the same? Five years ago a lot of Porsche guys didn't even know what a Carrera 3.0 was.

EDIT 2: or maybe a PO stuck a 3.2 in a 77 and added a badge and rear fenders. Kinda curious now, haha!

Got the engine number and it is not a Carrera 3.0 based on the following number 6370271

Sounded too good to be true, but on the flip side a well sorted 3.2 on a 77 coupe chassis might be a lot of fun if the price is right
