Stuff that dreams are made of.

The unattainable 911.
Imagine. Think back. Your first memory of being introduced (or seduced) by the 911. Early in your teens your interest turns into passion. In your middle teens this passion turns into an obsession! Not even remotely close to being of driving age you are familiar with every model and are taking a keen interest in how they are being restored and modified. You are building a collection of reference books and magazines and a knowledge database that will undoubtedly one day help you with your own 911. At this moment in time that may seem absolutely unattainable but you have several years to plan so remain hopeful.
This is where I come in. (BROTHER) (ACTUALLY FATHER))
I am going to share this journey of an extraordinary young man who deserves to have his dreams come to fruition. He expects nothing but deserves everything. A dedicated and high achieving scholar, a compassionate son, grandson and brother. He doesn't have a clue whats going on. He has absolutely no idea I am here.
The entry into the Porsche scene is one that is dictated by two main factors. Money and knowledge. You can have as much passion for the brand as anyone but without some of each of those factors you will ever only have books and posters.
So with a little bit of Money and a whole lot of knowledge (which btw comes from this forum) this young man will soon have his dream become reality. For the moment I will leave it at that but look forward to sharing more details and maybe even a "reveal" with you all soon.
Cheers and thank you.

Outstanding. Keep us posted.

A freakin' hint would be special. Not a reveal. Just a hint.

How true. Sometimes I wish I stuck with the books and posters.

I cant.
Thank you for your interest. This is the hardest secret i have had to keep EVER!
He is always browsing and looking for what may be considered a potential project that one day will suit our budget, knowledge, skill and level of commitment. They come they go we weigh up the pros and cons of every suiter. We just have to be patient and hope that the perfect 911 will come along at the right time.
Well (insert evil laugh here) that what he thinks.
To be continued..........

You must be in sales because you sure are selling the sizzle. Look forward to finding out where this story goes...

Major development. We have looked at many 911's. A while back we looked at one that was very suitable but amongst other reasons it was geographically too far away and transporation costs drove the price far too high so it fell off the raider. Since then the dealing has continued behind closed doors. Unbeknown to my brother a deal has been struck. Now to arrange to get it here. I'm starting to get nervous. He still has no idea. I feel like Chris Jacobs (overhauling) but I'm also the insider.😀😆
To be continued.

This should be great. When I was 18 my dad took me to O'Daniel Porsche in Chicago and I spent the afternoon looking at 911's and trying to identify year, model, etc. without checking the papers.
I had been obsessed for a while. "Need for Speed V: Porsche Unleashed" was a big part of it.
A salesman let me test-drive a Boxster around the block.

10 years later I got my 911SC! But I still have the posters they gave me that afternoon.

Hope it's not the conventional sales tactic used in the software world: "Sell the dream, implement the nightmare."

I was always on the implementation end...

Great story. Keep that bad boy forever and I suspect you drive it "for free" - depending on your fussiness quotient.

Things were a bit leaner in Toledo in 1970. Told this story before. One 912 on my paper route. That's all it took.

When 18 (1974) driving east on 80 through Youngstown, Ohio, spotted a 904. Big ol' Carrera script on the side. Fiberglass body panels looking not so tight. Rickety looking. Turned to my girlfriend and said, "What the hell have they done to that Opel GT?"

The Opel copied the 904 rear end. I had no clue which came first.

About 1977-78 saw my first P car at age 7-8 while on the playground at the apartment complex my Mom, sister and I lived in Chamblee, GA just outside of Atlanta. It was a rough area then too for those that know the area today not much better. I told myself one day I will own a Porsche. 2 years ago was the day, my 6 year old son won't have to say one day. What you are doing is very cool hope it all works out!

There are some great stories there. Thanks for sharing them.

The PORSCHE is on its way.

It's going straight to a garage where it will be given a once over with a fine tooth comb to ensure its safe and complies with all local laws. It will need to be inspected / certified by relevant authority for registration. Then it can be insured and finally driven straight to the reveal after a full detail. Exciting times ahead. :-)
