3.6 update.....

Well it finally arrived. The frieght company did it's best to lose the motor. Sat in DE for a whole weekend....got lost in Rialto CA and sat for two days in Oxnard CA waiting for the paperwork to show up.

Unpacked it and will attempt to have it installed soon....the Supertrapps are HUGE....the headers are nicely jet hot coated and the parts are in a box......

STILL HAVE the custom set of stainless steel 73 style heat exchangers from the 3.0 that I took out......includes oil lines and the dual out Dansk s/s muffler.....make offer.

Mikez,

You are ahead of me. It's amazing what $$ can facilitate. If I recall correctly, you went with Dr. T.

Let us know. I kinda got scared reading the thread about somebody's '3.6 conversion nightmare.'

Did Wayne delete the thread!

The thread was closed, and might have been deleated because the person complaining was not being forthright with his rendition of the facts.

Dr. T is a stand up Porsche fanatic, who stands behind his product 100%.

Point in fact, he shipped an oil cooler kit to me, knowing that I was under a dead line for a PCA event. When the kit arrived it had one line that was not for my car. When I called Steve, he appoligized and said lets have lunch tomorrow (which was the day before the event). He met me for lunch the next day with the right oil line.

Steve's shop is in Delaware, and I live in Northern VA.

Mike let us know how the "crate motor" and kit turns out.

BTW....if you read Tim's website....you will see that he is a single operator and does not "stock" his crate motors on a shelf.

Each one gets converted to SC specs, runs in one of his cars and then gets shipped after he is satisfied that it is not a oil leaker.....

So....turn around can be a little slow. So far I am satisfied as to the delivery, the shipping fiasco was not his fault. Hell, with the the whole west coast on strike, I was lucky to get the dang thing at all.

MikeZ, don't forget the picsof progress. I am reall interested to hear about the Timmons crate motor and the ease of instalation. Between you and Moses, I really have to start time trials with the POC in my class before the urge for a 3.6 overcomes my desire to compete in the lower classes.

Are you going to do the intall yourself?

Nope....I have a shop doing it this time. My 914/6 conversion took a lot out of me and the deal I worked out for the sale of my 3.0 was too good a deal to pass up on.

I am in the middle of building a garage as well as the engine upgrade.....the City is bending me over and doing me dry on the permit process. I HATE going in and having someone tell me something new when I figured all the Ts were crossed and Is dotted......NOW I need a GDAMNED soil compaction report.....

I will post pics as the install progresses.....

I don't know who you are and frankly don't care to. But before you pass judgement, consider the facts. I was being very honest with the facts concerning my other post. My engine transplant job sucked. The car was there for six weeks and the good doctor forgot to mention in his post that I had already paid $15,246.00 (including my 3.2 motor credit) BEFORE I arrived to pick my car up. He wanted the claimed balance owed $4577.00 in CASH, for a grand total of over $19,000. If you would like copies or scans of the certified checks, money orders, email me. After my eventful ride home and a total assesment by A Porsche Certified Technician (Farlers Performance) I could not justify the claimed balance due, and still can't. If you would like copies of the repair estimates which I will have next Thursday the 10th. Email me, I will be happy to share them. Better yet, drive to Ohio, see and drive this mess, perhaps you will understand.

All lot of people forget that I am also a Porsche lover, and I have no reason to be dishonest.

It was my understanding hat Mr. Embs was to keep this off line.

In any event, and for the record, Mr. Embs has forgotten to mention that he was charged a total of eight hours labor ($504) for the conversion, that included in the $19,000 price was a complete transmission rebuild which he complained about then in a private note to me said nothing was wrong with, a C2 body kit, alignment, weight balacne, clutch, etc. See below. He also fails to mention that has avoided my every effort to make this right, including my offer to pickj his car up 600 miles away, make any repairs necessary, and return it to him at my expense.

I have ofered to refund his money if he returns the engine, or to return his engine to his car and refund all his money or any other plan he migh mention. He absolutely refused any and all of my offers to remedy the myriad of problems he compained of, including, but not , limited to the "shoddy" taping of the wiring harnes which he participated in!

His last offer, which was via e-mail, was to send me the balance if I knocked off $500 from his bill. I then asked him to explain exactly what the $500 was for, and that I would refund money for any parts he returns, and he failed to respond.

He still has yet to explain why he skipped town without returning for the final inspection or.aying his bill as agreed.

For the record, his bill broke fown as follows:

993 VarioRam Engine 9850
Converison parts 1570
Conversion Options (Blockoff , chips etc.) $450
Jet hot coated Headers and exhaust $1185
Repalce Motor mounts includes parts $200
Conversion Labor $504
Alignment, Turbo tie rods, weight balance $325
Complete C2 body kit with tail,$2050
Clutch $485
Transmission rebuild with replacement dog teeth and additon of quaife $2783

Approximaely $19,000 less credit for his 3.2 of $3,800 whcih is the value HE placed upon it.

So as ususal, statements were a bit misleading.

As this matter involves ongoing litigation for collection against Mr. Embs, who skipped town owing me nearly $5000, my suggestion is that it be kept off line.

I will not respond to this thread again. Anyone with specific questions may direct them to me off line.

For the record.....Tim has put up with my obnoxious "I want it NOW" attitude and has delivered as promised....

Embs and he have their OWN problems.....personally, anybody that bails town owing bucks has a LOT to explain when going to court, but that's MY HUMBLE OPINION......

I FULLY anticipate being on the road next week and having a HIGHER top speed than Jack because I did not screw with my transmission.......

MIKEZ.....positive attitudeRme

Hey Mikey, speaking of power/weight, what does that big-bumpered tanning chamber on wheels weigh?

Remember Black Beauty is running a full interior, A/C, huge wheels, 915 trans, etc so I betcha the poundage difference is less than we may suspect.

It will be interesting to see (probably from half a lap back, where I'll be.)
