NY - Nova Scotia

At this time a week today a few of us will be getting ready to drive off the ferry in Yarmouth to begin a run across Nova Scotia. Our plan is to follow the Evangeline trail north toward Port Hawkesbury, overnight in PH before driving up to the Cabot Trail the next day. We will do the CT loop and then head back down to Port Hawkesbury again to overnight before an early start to drive down the east side of Nova Scotia headed back towards Yarmouth. After an overnight in Yarmouth and get back on the Ferry Monday AM.

As always with these things we're really looking forward to the trip and as with the other runs we have made, (which are well documented on the board), we hope to run into some local Pelicans on the way. We posted to the regional Canada thread and got some great local advice many thanks for that. We will update the thread periodically on route, but for now here is some of the scenery. (We are also looking forward to the seafood !)

Cheers

Are you open to people joining you? Where are you leaving from? Are you all taking your 911's? (dumb question I guess) Where are you leaving from?

Sounds like an awesome trip.

As always with these trips we have a route booklet, It got prepped today.

Lewis you will be missed mate, hope to see you & the 'new' car soon.

Stig, There is no formal organization for this, its just a bunch of us from the NE who usually do a couple of trips a year.

Cheers

Sounds fun. I am in Kingston N.S. I hope to be taking the same ferry and going to Boston to pick up my first 911 (84' 3.2) on the 20th and taking the ferry back overnight the night of the 21st. I then plan to take it to our local track (Atlantic Motorsports Park) for a BMW HPDE on the 23rd and 24th.

There are some pretty avid Porsche guys in my area (including this guy). Stopping buy to see his and his friends collection would be worth it if they were around an up for it. I think a 917 replica in gulf colors may still be in the shop. I will give them a heads up of this thread.

It may also be worth contacting the local Acadia region PCA. I am sure a few would be up for meeting/joining, if not this year, then in future years. Hell, I would be all over it if my hands were not so full. I will try to link up depending on timing and how long the group is around. I am on the way in the Annapolis Valley (as are the folks linked above, they are in New Minas).

cheers.

You may as well see all three Maritime Provinces; here's how. Just across the south eastern part of New Brunswick take the confederation bridge over to PEI then travel to the south eastern end of PEI to catch the ferry to Nova Scotia.

Easy as pie.

Gilding Serpent, thanks for the links and info. Hope to see you on the ferry across. We are heading toward Kingston up rt 221 so if you fancy caravaning with us that would be great. I'll shoot you a PM with contact #'s, but I'm pretty sure you will recognize us.
I don't think our schedule allows us to stop by the track but we're hoping we could meet some of the local Pelicans in the area around Peggys Cove when we do rt 333 332 & 331 on Sunday.
Cheers

The 221 is a very decient secondary road by our standards. Few rough spots but nothing that will take your fillings out. Be sure to go up by port williams, canning, and then detour up the 358 to the lookoff. Worth the trip.

Take the 221 to berwick. At the crossroads with the 360 (left takes you down and through berwick), turn right to harbourville. Go up the "mountain" for a few nice turns and a great uphill hairpin. Just repaved and used to be a competative hillclimb in the 70's. I hit the top and u turn it back down.

Now drive down through berwick on the 360 till you hit the 1. The 221 beyond berwick is currently rough so skip it.

Turn right in the 1. Evangeline trail again. Be sure to catch the 201 on the left between aylsford and greenwood. You will be greated with great roads no homes, and a series of high speed sweepers folloed by a small bridge and long straight. I may be known to go very fast through the sweepers. Go through greenwood (good place to gas up, but not stay) and keep on the 201 again till you hit bridgetown.

The above is my bread and butter fun-run.

At bridgetown the 201 vs 1 to annapolis royal is a toss up, but i prefer the 201 due to less traffic. Annapolis royal is a great little town to stop in.

I will join if i can.

Keep in mind that in N.S. at just 30km over the speed limit, really bad things happen to your drivers license.

I almost ended up with a plane ticket home.

Sorry that I can't make this work, looks like you guys are going to have an epic trip. I'll be anxious to hear the feedback afterwards, as I'm still hoping to get up there before the snow flies.

Have fun!
