Rare (I think) A/C control panel - Input please!
Has anybody ever seen one of these?
I found it while going through the collection of a gentleman looking to retire. He said it came off a '68 soft window 912 Targa Any help as to what exactly it is, and it's value would be appreciated. I only have one picture for now, but can get more on Monday when I pick up the car and all the parts he sold me! ![]()

I've seen the "Coolaire" brand in a 911 but it looked like this.
Vintage 60's 912 911 CoolAire under dash AC dealer unit The one you have looks more suited to a 356, but that's not to say it wasn't installed in a 911 |

Koolaire was out of Miami Florida and had a wide range of aftermarket..ahem...dealer installed air coditioning units. I had a 1970 MGB-GT so equipped

CoolAir & Delanair were the two (that I know of at least) dealer installed A/C systems "authorized" by the factory. The factory did not install or offer A/C as an option but did allow their dealers this choice. Our '68 912 SWT had the Delanair system installed at the dealer, cost was almost 800.00 then which was muy expensivo back then. They work for crap, but, some thought better than nothing. I'm not sure on value, worth more to someone looking for parts than as a system. What did you buy??

Thanks for all the input guys.
Makes sense that it may have been on a 356 as there are a few 356 parts there, and the seller said he had a few of them. To answer nvr2mny's question... A lot of stuff. I bought an '85 coupe roller, a '69 2.0 engine that he said has only 10-15 hours on it after it was converted to "S" specs (gonna get exact info when I pick it up tomorrow), 912E complete exhaust, a ton of gauges (various years), NOS torsion bars, a 3.0 case, various heads, cylinders, pistons, and a bunch of other stuff that, to be honest, I can't remember right now. I'll post some pics tomorrow after picking it all up. |

By the way, I think I have one of those laying around the shop somewhere. Not in good condition or anything, but I kept it anyways cause it was kind if neat.

Otif, sounds like you picked up quite the haul! That motor could be quite interesting, especially if you have docs/receipts. It's so much fun wading through the "old" stuff. I'm sure you bought it right and will enjoy finding the gold nuggets, err platinum, as it's all gold anymore! Looking forward to your sharing (and selling) when you get it in and figured out!

Thanks! It is fun! I know exactly how my next few days will be spent. Can't wait! And I'll post it all on this thread before selling any of it.

Just picked up the parts! Lots of cool stuff. The '69 2.0 has S cams, and the pistons were fly cut to accommodate for valve clearance. Says it only has 10-15 hours on it since rebuild, and it spins freely. A few 356 parts such as a case, crank, pistons, oil cooler. Will post pics soon

I hope so too, however I'll probably never know as I won't open it up.

Here we go...
The case belongs to a '68 912. The stamping on it says 616/39, and the serial number is 113855. Yes, that a bucket full of gauges. Will post pics of all the gauges shortly. There's the Koni S truts, S aluminum calipers, Italian made weber 40's, which according to the owner are correct for an S. There's so many parts it's a bit overwhelming right now. Will continue posting as I keep going through everything. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
