At 13 grand it's a rip off but a nice car nonetheless.

Why is $12.9k a rip off?

If you take the ad at face vaule, it would cost a lot more to put together your own 2.9L '73.5 T.

I think it's purty.

So I should add up all the receipts on money I spent on my car and that determines how much my car is worth? Hell, my SC is worth something like 24 grand, sweet. So whose gonna buy it?

later,

I've seen that car

I've seen it for sale for about a month. It has a bit of rust bubbling and coming through right behind the DS door, and non-original (SC I think) seats, and a different wheel.

Porsche Crest CIS T

Leland,

I agree: when you finally go long-hood, you should go MFI! No sense in doing things halfway.

And you WILL go long-hood someday! Look into my eyes. . .you are getting very sleepy . . .when you wake up you will remember nothing, except 114.0mm +/- 0.2mm!

Lee? How can you make such a critical decision? Without at least taking a drive in a (mostly) stock 2.4 S first? The invitation is still open...bring your cue tho...Cindy is slipping in 8 ball. I whupped her badly today...9 games straight.

I think that car has been for sale for quite some time. that probably says something (either I've got a bad memory or the car has issues with condition or price).

This car was for sale in Orange County (south of LA) about 5 months ago by a different owner. He started out at around $13k and was down to about $10.5k whe I lost track of it. As stated earlier, several small rust spots, also spot rusting through from below rear window into engine compartment top lip. Hole in rt battery box. Strong engine though. Previous owner kept insisting it was 3.1L.

I actually talked to the owner a couple of times, and even considered flying out to drive/buy the car. The owner is honest about the condition, and readily opened up about the rust issues. He's selling for financial reasons, so I doubt the $12.9k is firm.

The 2.9L is built from the original 2.4L case with 3.0L P&C's. He has all the documentation. Guy bought it less than six months ago and claims financial issues are the only reason he is selling.

I haven't personally inspected it, but from the pictures and description, it sounds like a pretty decent early car.
