Deck lid release stuck

Hi
I am a newbie to vintage Porsches. Just took delivery of my 1969 911T. Runs great, but when I pull on the rear deck release, nothing unlocks. Any hints before I call my mechanic? There is plenty of tension in the cable, infact I broke the plastic handle side pieces pulling. Thanks in advance.

Get someone to press down on the center of the deck lid on top of the catch while you pull on the cable.
Once you have the cable all the way out ask them to release the pressure.
It should pop open. I can do it on my own but it's a stretch.

Also look closely at the deck lid for alignment. my 79 930 was off by a 1/8" to one side which was also causing paint to be worn on the closer side. My deck pin (not sure proper term) with the spring, was also slightly bent. in order to open it would take two people and a slight push to the side of the deck to open. I had to straighten the "pin"and align the rear deck with the 4 bolts holding it to the car. if you do get it open close slowly and see where the pin and latch line up.

I had this problem in the past also. Turned out it was time to change the deck lid shocks. I used this 'fix' before I got them changed.
I would stick the tip of an old bic pen cap into the space under the deck lid between the deck lid and body, just enough to exert a slight pressure upward against the deck lid. When I pulled the release handle, there was just enough pressure to get the lid to release.
Sounds odd I know, but it just needed a little upward pressure to release it. I used the pen cap(with pen attached) because it was tapered and I could wedge it in there. Also, it was plastic and would not scratch anything. Try a piece of wood or anything that is soft and slightly tapered.

HTH,
Craig

Try pulling the car onto a hill on one side (slight grade) enough to raise one side a few inches then operate the latch. Then adjust the latch accordingly.

Thanks all to replied. Wiggling the lid with someone pulling the latch got it open. Thanks again.

THIS !

Works like a charm, stuck decklid pops with the little upward pressure from the wedge.
