Question V1 in a Cab?

Cab owners, where did you mount your Valentine V1 Radar Detector in your p-car? I am going to take the V1 plunge – ouch pricey!

My previous detectors, in non-p-cars, I always mounted on passenger side visor and hid the power wire down the trim around the window. This seems like a great place for front and rear detection in a p-car CAB. But, Porsche sun visors seem a bit flimsy to hold any amount of weight.

Do you recommended the remote unit since the wind rustles through our hair and noise may drown out the V1's warning?

Thanks Posters! ''

Jason,

The visors in my car would be way too flimsy to mount a detector on.

My cab came with a detector mounted under the passenger side knee pad. It's not a V-1 (heck i still haven't turned it on while driving).

But I want to get a V-1, so let me know what you come up with for the best mounting.

I use the ear plug option and mount it in the windshield on the dash......with the top down the loudest alarm level is a little too low with the wind noise unless I have the ear plug in or the top up.

Motorcycles use the ear plug too...

Hey...got the V1 installed on my CAB. I ended up mounting it on the passenger side visor. I was expecting this thing to be heavy and too big for mounting it there - WRONG! These V1's are light and about the size of a pack and one-half of cigarettes.
This seems to be a good place for picking up radar – both front and rear in a CAB. However, I think I need concealed display unit to mount on the steering column. The noise from the outside and the distraction at looking at the unit versus the road necessitates it.

By-the-way... I order a refurbished V1. They call it returned...what ever. Cost was $359. That saved me some bucks to get the Concealed Display unit for the steering column for the price of a so called new V1. Thought I could save some of you some $.
