Pulled my rocker trim 84 3.2 Orange
Hi guys, I have been refurbing my suspension. I finished the rear with ER rubber parts. I lowered the rear about 1" by indexing my tbars. I needed to pull the rocker trim to do it. Guess what? I don't think it's going back in. Please see what you think.
Thanks, Dave ![]() ![]()

I don't like the look without the rocker trim. It makes the car look "unfinished". That being said, I am probably the only one on this forum that feels this way, LOL.

As far as I'm concerned, yes, you are the only one!
I don't like the black rubber strip along the rocker and think yours looks much better now. I also left the TB covers off of mine. They were just too heavy... ![]()

I agree w Chris.
If you are lowering the car, by leaving off the rocker trim, it appears higher. Matt

Come on MREID, as an ex-PA guy, you owe it to yourself to put that beast back together. Plug those T-Bar holes and mount those rocker covers....Schnell!!!! LOL.

But, Chris, I just can't do it. The weight, the weight. I even shaved my carpet because the longer fibers weighed too much. I'm getting ready to sand the paint down to save weight. I'm going crazy! Red and black paint do weigh less than white paint, right???

Thanks. I thought about polishing my brass oil lines, but thought they would clash with the orange. I just put a coat of flat black below the rim of the rocker.

I think your car looks good, but would prefer a nose to tail shot to decide

I like the look…it's more "sport" than "street", kinda backdates the car, and is cleaner (visually). Of course, it begs to be balanced out (visually) with FB front and rear bumpers.

Thanks for all the input. I am not sure there is a correct answer to what looks better. Definitely stock will give a Porsche-correct look. I just noticed how clean the car looked without the rockers, and thought I'd live with it for a while. Thanks for all the opinions.
Thanks, Dave

BTW I'm replacing engine compartment fuel lines, that's why I left it up on ramps in the rear.

I'm ambivalent on (losing) the rocker covers. From certain angles it looks great and from others it looks goofy - as if someone had squished the center of the car. I think it depends on your bodywork too.

FWIW, I was weaving, trying to beat traffic on I-10 about a year ago, and as I pulled out from behind one car into the next left lane, I saw something that I think was one of those big rubber chocks that I've seen RVs use. I almost missed it. Clipped it with my right front and heard it hit somewhere near my passenger door. When I finally exited and got to a red light, I saw that the rocker panel had sustained a pretty heavy dent. Oil lines were apparently fine, protected by the rocker cover.
But I really like the look without the covers.

G50 cars have a bunch of holes showing without the rockers. Still like it without them.
