What is this part

Tearing out my interior and found this module behind the rear seat drivers side panel. The output was not connected to anything and the supply via a rechargeable battery is connected to the hot side of a factory wire under the dash. My first thought was the remote locks my affect. Maybe part of the alarm system but if so whey locate the module here and not the trunk? Appreciate any advice before I tear it out.

Bob

It does appear to be a sensor of sorts but I don't see how it controls anything. The input measures 12.9 volts and the output is 0. This is a pic of the wire that was located behind the back seat

It does appear to be a LoJack type system. I did some googling and it seems to be somewhat common in higher end used cars. No use to me so out it goes. Good guess cooper9191sc

Yes, the battery was connected in parallel assuming to provide a full backup encase the main supply was dead. I like your list of options and the color as well.

Hey thanks - just caught the color part ;-) My interior is grey. Yours is beautiful, no wonder it was lojacked.
I am glad you found that 'system'. I don't like the idea of a hidden lead/acid battery.
